Sprint Tasks

You can manage tasks from the Sprint planning widget. The list of available tasks that are not related to a sprint is located under the sprint list. To be in the widget task list, a task needs to meet all of the following criteria:

  • The task is not canceled,
  • The task is not released,
  • The task Sprint is not specified,
  • The Task type is of the third level and added to the board project.

Further conditions depend on the option selected in the drop-down filter at the top of the page:

  • The task Project is not specified or equals the board project. If the Project is not specified or there is no State Model in Project record for the task type, the task State choice option's Order must be smaller than the order of the board's first column state choice option.

  • The task Product is not specified or equals the product of the board project.

  • The task Project equals the board project.
AND
  • The task State choice option's Order is smaller than the order of the board's first active column state choice option.

Tasks without a project
  • The task Project is not specified.

  • The task Product is not specified or equals the product of the board project.

  • The task State choice option's Order is smaller than the order of the board's first active column state choice option.

The list is by default grouped by the parent tasks. The tasks are sorted in ascending order according to the Rank. When the tasks' ranks are identical, the system checks their Priority.

Add tasks to a sprint


To add a task to a sprint, complete the following steps:

  1. Find the required task in the list under the sprints.
  2. Select the checkbox on the left from the task number. You can select all tasks on the page by selecting the checkbox in the list header.
  3. Click Add to sprint button in the upper-right corner of the task list. The button becomes active if at least one task is selected.
  4. Select a sprint in the New or Active state and click Add. The tasks will be added to the specified sprint. Their Project and Product (if the Product development checkbox is selected for the project) fields will be completed automatically.

After adding the tasks to the sprint, click it to see these tasks in the list. The list contains uncanceled third-level tasks.

Create a new task in the Sprint planning widget


To create a new task in the Sprint planning widget, complete the following steps:

  1. Select an option to create the task:

    • Open the action menu of a sprint and click Create task to create a task for the selected sprint.
    • Click above the task list to create a task without sprint or add it to any existing sprint.
  2. Fill in the fields of the create task modal window. The values of the following fields are filled in automatically or have limitations:

    • Task type – you can select from the third-level task types added to the project.
    • State – you can select from the first board state and the states preceeding it.
    • Sprint – if you create the task from the sprint action menu, the field is completed automatically and read-only.
    • Project – the field is completed automatically and read-only.
    • Product – if the Product development checkbox is selected for the project, the field is completed automatically and read-only.
  3. Click Save to create a task. The new task will be dispalyed in the list of available tasks if it matches the selected filter criteria, or in the sprint task list if you have added a task to the sprint.
